“Nobel-Prize Laureate James Heckman Visit to FGV EPGE in 2011” – Parte I
EPGE hosted Nobel Prize Laureate James Heckman and several other top economists in the Conference “Early Childhood: The International and Brazilian Experience” on October 26 and 27, 2011.
Organization and opening remarks were made by the director of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Luiz Daividovich; the Secretary of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education, Maria do Pilar Lacerda Almeida e Silva; the vice-president of the Getulio Vargas Foundation, Sergio Quintella; FGV EPGE Dean, Rubens Penha Cysne and the coordinator of the event, Aloisio Araujo. Participants in the seminar included André Portela, professor at FGV EESP; Claudia Costin, Secretary of Education of Rio de Janeiro; Edson Amaro Jr., neuroscientist and member of the study group on Early Childhood Education of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences; Erasmo Barbante Casella, neuroscientist and member of the study group on Early Childhood Education of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and USP; João Batista Oliveira, education specialist and member of the study group on Early Childhood Education of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences; Luiz Carlos Faria da Silva, member of the study group on Early Childhood Education of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the State University of Maringá; Rodrigo Pinto of the University of Chicago and Seong Moon, an economist at the University of Chicago; Simon Schwartzman, sociologist and member of the study group on Early Childhood Education at the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
