EPGE and NPII Hold Conference "Brazil and the Future of the Atlantic: Challenges and Opportunities"

Under the leadership of a Professor from EPGE, Renato Flôres, on 16 November, the conference "Brazil and the Atlantic Future: Challenges and Opportunities" was held in partnership between EPGE and NPII. The opening was made by the President of FGV, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, the Director-General of the International Relations Center of Barcelona (CIDOB), Jordi Bacaria and the Director of FGV´s International Intelligence Unit, Renato Galvão Flôres Junior.

The Director of FGV/EPGE - Brazilian School of Economics and Finance, Professor Rubens Penha Cysne, participated in the panel on the vision from Brazil, with the theme "Economic and Financial Outlook of Brazil in the Atlantic." There were present as speakers, NPII analysts, researchers at Johns Hopkins University's, CIDOB, Escola Superior Guerra and Sciences Po, Paris, as well as businessmen from the energy and communications sectors.

The closing speech was made by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence, Ambassador Celso Amorim.

The event marks the conclusion of the project Atlantic Future, from the European Community, where the two units participated. The event aimed to discuss the changes in economic relations, institutional, security, energy and environment in the Atlantic area. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities for Brazil, in shaping the future of the Atlantic, both in public and in private fields.
