EPGE promotes international meeting to discuss advances in macroeconomics

From May 26th to 28th, FGV/EPGE - Graduate School of Economics and Finance gathered at its headquarters economists from various countries for the conference Advances in Macroeconomics. The participants were welcomed by the Dean Rubens Penha Cysne and by the event organizers, professors Marco Bonomo and Tiago Berriel.

The meeting featured discussions about the effects of fiscal expansion in central and emerging economies, taxation, welfare costs of inflation, evidence of price rigidity and its implication on the effects of monetary policy. It also brought together many School alumni, such as Joaquim Levy (former Secretary of National Treasury), Carlos Hamilton Araujo (Director of Economic Policy of the Central Bank of Brazil), as well as other professionals and academics.

The following speakers attended to the event: Aloisio Araujo (FGV/EPGE), Bernardo Guimarães (FGV/EESP), Carlos Carvalho (NY Fed), Carlos Eugenio da Costa (FGV/EPGE), Luigi Zingales (University of Chicago - Booth School of Business), Marco Bonomo (FGV/EPGE), Nobuhiro Kiyotaki (Princeton University), Oleg Itskhoki (Princeton University), Pricila Maziero (University of Pennsylvania), Ricardo Cavalcanti (FGV/EPGE), Rubens Penha Cysne (FGV/EPGE), Tiago Berriel (FGV/EPGE), and Virgiliu Midrigan (New York University).

The event was sponsored by BRAM - Bradesco Asset Management. It was the third meeting promoted by the School in celebration of its fiftieth anniversary.
